A number of B.C. artists explore the potential of using virtual and augmented reality to represent Indigenous realities.

Increasing knowledge of virtual and augmented reality

By organizing roundtables, discussions and trial runs, IM4 Lab helps transmit valuable knowledge to Indigenous artists in B.C. and encourages dialogue about the artistic potential of virtual and augmented reality. In the process, the needs of the education, healthcare, community organization and tourist industry sectors are also identified.

Understanding virtual reality through experimentation

In tandem with the roundtables, the organization, founded by Loretta Todd, organizes demonstrations and practical sessions that enable artists to experiment with the technologies, identify the specific skills required, anticipate problems, and think about how these technologies can be used in various contexts of creating Indigenous art. The issue of funding virtual and augmented reality projects is also addressed.
