DAO platform: Seven Saguenay organizations are pooling their management models
Centre Bang and six partner arts organizations are using blockchain technology to develop a digital Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) management tool.
Management transformed by an innovative tool
With Canada Council funding, Centre Bang is working closely with six partner organizations—Bande Sonimage, the Centre de production en art actuel TOUTTOUT, Productions Caravane Films, the Centre d’Expérimentation Musicale, Le LOBE artist-run centre and Les éditions OQP—to develop collaboration and self-management software. This DAO tool, which includes blockchains, enables the organizations to meet their individual needs, while also collaborating in managing certain projects that require the expertise of all seven.
Using digital to develop a new form of collaborative governance
In the first phase of the project, the seven partners are collaborating on this DAO platform as a new method of collective management that can then be subsequently tested in a pilot project involving a group of more than 50 partners. In this way, digital facilitates a larger-scale pooling of resources and knowledge by increasing the number of possibilities for collaboration. In due course, this tool, once developed, could then be used by many other Canadian arts organizations.
