Guitarist and composer Don Ross has won the 2021 Walter Carsen prize ($50,000), which recognizes the highest level of artistic merit and distinguished career achievement by a Canadian professional artist in music, theatre or dance.

Don Ross welcomed us in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, to share his thoughts on receiving this prize. Among other things, he touched on his career milestones, relating how his background, the various places he has lived and the music industry’s complete upheaval have impacted his music over the last 30 years.

We extend our warmest congratulations to Don Ross, whose body of work continues to fashion the artistic and cultural scene both here in Canada and abroad.
