Thanks to the Make Something residency program, Something Shows supports young artists’ creative processes via videoconferences.

Virtual residencies

Based in Whitehorse, Yukon, the Something Shows collective is bringing together underrepresented groups through creative experiences. The second edition of the Make Something residency program provided 12 emerging artists—seven from rural communities—with guidance through their research and creative process. Due to the pandemic, this edition was virtual. Through weekly videoconference calls, the artists were able to exchange ideas and build relationships. The resulting works were presented at the Wonderhorse Emerging Arts and Music Festival in September 2021.

Garnering interest among up-and-coming artists

In collaboration with emerging artists, the collective also wishes to reach young audiences to better meet the needs of those who live in areas that have few artistic offerings.
