Exhibitions, Workshops, Research and Conferences for One of Acadie’s Driving Forces
The Galerie d’art Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen is a significant visual arts institution and a key feature of the Acadian Renaissance that contributes to the professionalization of the arts milieu.
Researching and protecting Acadian heritage
The Galerie d’art Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen is an arts presenter that plays a crucial role in the development of critical thought on visual arts in Acadie. Working at the university level, the Galerie ensures conservation of comprehensive records about Acadian artists. Its collection holds nearly 1,000 works of art created in Acadie since 1965. Its presentation, interpretation, research, and promotion activities contribute to furthering knowledge on contemporary visual arts.
Significant openness, teaching, and outreach
As a major institution in the development of visual arts in Acadie, the Galerie also imparts knowledge and appreciation of contemporary artistic expression, both at the Université de Moncton and throughout New Brunswick. Its programming features artists from across Canada. It also contributes to the professionalization of the visual arts milieu in the area and to the training of future arts workers, namely through its curation internship program and a position as conservationist and collections manager, initiatives it hopes to bolster in the coming years.
