Continuing Education at the Heart of New Brunswick Artistic Practice
The Association acadienne des artistes professionnel.le.s du Nouveau-Brunswick (AAAPNB) implemented a professional support and networking program to help its members grow their practice.
The art of learning to manage a career in the arts
With a view to meeting the demands of artists as presented in a document outlining a comprehensive strategy for integrating arts and culture in New Brunswick Acadian society, the AAAPNB is helping its members professionalize their career management and avoid precarity. In 2018-19, the AAAPNB offered training and conferences on a range of topics, including copyright and digital technology, and prepared an artistic resume and a grant application.
One mission—to counter the isolation of New Brunswick artists
Networking, knowledge sharing and bringing artists together—the AAAPNB has met all three of these needs expressed by New Brunswick artists by implementing creative residency programs in 2018-19 that foster encounters between artists from different walks of life. What’s more, the AAAPNB is continuing its work to counter the isolation felt by contemporary dancers in New Brunswick, supporting their participation in the Entr’ARTS event at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in Alberta.
