Artcirq Lauded in Stockholm

The Nunavut-based circus company was invited to perform at the Stockholm Culture Festival, which took place from August 14 to 18, 2018, with Canada as a central theme.

A spotlight on Canadian circus arts

Swedish audiences were treated to the excellence of Canada’s circus arts through Artcirq, whose Inuit artists from Igloolik, Nunavut, performed outdoors. Their visit to Sweden was part of an on-going collaboration with local artist Gisle Henriet. It was also intended to imagine future collaborations.

A rare spotlight on Inuit culture abroad

Artcirq artists don’t get to travel abroad every year, so this Scandinavian visit was a special opportunity to promote and provide an understanding of Inuit culture. In addition to daily performances, the artists coordinated traditional Inuit game sessions and public discussions.
