Filmmaking co-op uses grant to support Newfoundland and Labrador’s film community

The Newfoundland Independent Filmmakers Co-operative (NIFCO) is the go-to post-production facility for the Newfoundland and Labrador film community. It aims to give artists the tools and skills they need to succeed.

Revamped workshop offerings

In keeping with its mandate to help artists advance their practices, NIFCO is developing new workshops and training stations as well as a professional development strategy. The strategy will build on existing programs and historical training initiatives to enhance participants’ experiences and provide better training for filmmakers.

New artist-in-residence program

NIFCO has been wanting to establish an artist-in-residence program for some time, and will finally be able to do so. One goal is to promote the exchange of artistic views and strengthen the ties between visiting artists and the local community. Another is to open up new artistic creation, production and presentation networks and build alliances between film artists and co-ops in the rest of Canada and abroad.
