Canada Council Instagram Takeovers

Are you looking for an opportunity to share your artistic projects with a broader audience? Grow your Instagram following and engage in a meaningful way? If so, then we invite you to do an Instagram Takeover with the Canada Council!
By participating in an Instagram Takeover, artists can share their unique voice as part of the arts community and connect with new and diverse audiences. This collaborative initiative offers an opportunity to showcase current artistic projects, whether finished or in-progress, with Canada Council followers, introducing them to fresh, authentic personalized content.
As a participant, you will be able to share a variety of content including, but not limited to, videos, selfies, photos of the creation process, works in progress, original artworks, calls for applications/submissions/participation etc. via three in-app tools:
- Instagram Stories
- Feed posts
- Instagram TV (IGTV)
Takeovers last for two (2) consecutive days between Monday and Friday, with the goal of sharing content according to the recommended best times to post on Instagram.
The Canada Council aspires to support a vital and diverse arts sector—and equity is a critical element in achieving this. To help meet this objective, participants will be asked to make their content accessible by including alternative (ALT) text and captions to accompany the visual content and videos shared on Instagram.
If you are interested in participating in an Instagram Takeover or have questions, please contact the Canada Council’s Communications and Engagement team at social@canadacouncil.ca.
Participants will be selected by an internal committee based on geographic and demographic factors. The team will work closely with participants to ensure the success of each collaboration.
Please note that opportunities to participate are limited, and that we while we may not be able to accommodate all who express interest, we appreciate the enthusiasm and hope to work with you in some capacity in the future.
