literary book publisher

A professional literary book publisher is an organization that publishes books as its primary activity (fiction, poetry, literary non-fiction, children and young adults’ literature, graphic novel). Its focus is on the printed publication and promotion of books written by a variety of authors (whom at least 75% are not employees or owners of the publishing house), and chosen through an editorial selection process. It is committed to a sustained trade book publishing program, available to the general public. A professional literary publisher must have a professional distribution, pay royalties to authors and honor contractual obligations.
