Residences in North-Western Canada for Francophone Artists

Artist centres in Alberta, Manitoba and the Yukon welcomed Florence Debeugny, Laura St. Pierre and Aurélia Bizouard, three artists living in official language minority communities.

From Whitehorse to Winnipeg, by way of Edmonton

Fruitful creative residencies overseen by the Centre d’arts visuels de l’Alberta were made possible at the Association franco-yukonnaise (AFY) in Whitehorse in November 2018, the Centre d’arts visuels de l’Alberta in Edmonton in January and February 2019 and the Maison des artistes visuels francophones at the Centre culturel franco-manitobain from March 1 to 14, 2019.

Supporting artists with diverse profiles

The artists’ preferred mediums are varied: Florence Debeugny (Vancouver) is a documentary photographer who is also interested in abstract photography; Laura St. Pierre (Saskatoon) is a creator of video installations, public artwork, and photography; and Aurélia Bizouard (Vancouver) creates paintings on panels of glass.
