artStory: A Digital Platform for Visual Artists with Disabilities
Alberta’s Indefinite Arts Centre is developing a digital platform for works by artists with disabilities.
Using a digital platform to promote disability arts practices
The Indefinite Arts Centre is developing a digital platform to raise the profile of visual artists with disabilities and improve access to their works. As the name implies, the artStory platform also gives artists the opportunity to tell their own stories, describe their artistic careers, and document their works in order to become known by the public, art gallerists, arts organizations, and other artists.
The Indefinite Arts Centre: a long-standing commitment to disability arts practices
The Indefinite Arts Centre supports more than 300 artists with disabilities, which makes it the largest organization of its kind in Canada—as well as the oldest! Its mission is to faithfully represent the breadth of the skills and talents of not only the Centre’s participating artists, but also artists from across Canada and the United States who identify as having a disability.
