Public Energy continues to enliven the Peterborough cultural scene
The Public Energy organization received a three-year core grant to continue its mission of presenting a variety of performing arts, while also supporting local Indigenous art.
At the service of the public and artists of Peterborough
Public Energy offers the people of Peterborough programming in theatre, dance and performance art, as well as cultural mediation activities and support for the local arts community in the form of residencies and master classes. These activities are supported by a three-year Arts Festivals and Presenters core grant, which also helps develop both partnerships with the university community and a series of podcasts.
Present a variety of performing arts
Since the Peterborough region is partly populated by Indigenous communities, including those of Curve Lake First Nation and Hiawatha First Nation, Public Energy believes it’s important to support and disseminate First Nations’ artistic productions. For instance, the organization plans to continue working with the O’Kaadenigan Wiingashk Collective (OKW), and generally emphasize diversity in its programming.
