What is this prize?

The Victor Martyn Lynch-Staunton Awards are given for outstanding artistic achievement by Canadian artists in seven disciplines: Dance, Inter-Arts, Media Arts, Music, Theatre, Visual Arts, and Writing and Publishing.

Seven prizes of $15,000 each


How to qualify

Applicants previously qualified for this prize by applying to the Canada Council's various Grants to Professional Artists programs.

As of 1 April 2017, applicants to the Explore and Create program may be considered for it.

An assessment committee will select the recipients from among all eligible applicants.

The Victor Martyn Lynch-Staunton Fund was established thanks to a generous bequest from Mr. Lynch-Staunton to the Canada Council in 1967.
