Yukon’s premier venue for performing and visual arts offers artist support and programming

The Yukon Art Centre is a creative resource for northern artists in various disciplines. Over the next few years, it will continue to champion and promote northern artists and stories.

Creating opportunity and growth for local artists

The Yukon Art Centre’s programming is multidisciplinary, spanning the visual arts, performing arts, presenting, training, residencies and outreach. Over the next few years, it will continue to develop and enhance the artistic practices of professional and emerging Yukon artists by exposing them to cutting-edge work, offering master classes, and arranging collaborations and tours, among other initiatives.

Indigenous-led programming

The centre also aims to increase its focus on Indigenous programming, and is committed to making Indigenous performance a central pillar of its work. To that end, it will support a number of Indigenous-led projects—often through partnerships with Indigenous organizations. In terms of programming, it is planning an Indigenous-themed musical tale and theatre piece as well as exchanges with local, traditional drum groups.
