Pascal Grandmaison
Pascal Grandmaison was born in Montréal in 1975. His works have been presented as part of solo exhibitions, namely at the National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa), the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, the Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’art contemporain, the Art Gallery of Hamilton (Ontario) as well as the Prefix Institute of Contemporary Art (Toronto). He has also taken part in many group exhibitions at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the Audain Art Museum (Whistler) and the Canadian Cultural Centre (Paris), among others. His videos have been shown around the world, including recent showings at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (Berlin), the Edinburgh Art Festival, the Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains (Tourcoing) and the Centre Pompidou (Paris).
The prize
The Canada Council Photography Prize is awarded to professional photographers for personal creative work or professional development. This award is the only Canada Council prize dedicated to photography.

To be eligible for this prize, photographers must first have received a grant from the Canada Council. Visit the Grants page to learn more about granting programs.
Background
The prize was created in 1986 with funding from the Government of Canada and renamed the Canada Council Photography Prize in 2024.
