CBC Literary Prizes
Overview
Over the years these awards have brought to the public's attention many talented young people who have since gone on to become established writers.
What is this prize?
The CBC Literary Prizes recognize talented Anglophone writers in three categories: Short Story, Nonfiction and Poetry. The competition is open to amateur and professional Canadian writers.
Prize amount
- Six prizes of $6,000 and a writing residency at the Banff Centre as well as publication of the winning work in Air Canada’s enRoute magazine and on CBCBooks.ca.
- $1,000 to every finalist in each category and publication of their works on CBCBooks.ca

Who created this prize?
These prizes were established by a triple partnership, involving CBC/Radio-Canada and the Canada Council for the Arts together with Air Canada’s enRoute magazine, in order to encourage emerging writers.
