Funding helps northern arts organization support diverse artists across a vast landscape

Western Arctic Moving Pictures (WAMP), a non-profit arts organization in Yellowknife, aims to help artists produce and showcase innovative film, video and digital media throughout the Northwest Territories.

A vehicle for artists

WAMP is a small centre with a large mandate, providing extensive services to artists across a vast region. Key offerings include production grants and mentoring, film production training, collaboration and artist-in-residence projects. From 2018 to 2020, Canada Council funding will help WAMP continue to support artists’ visions and productions.

A new artistic direction

WAMP is also introducing a new project called Northern Sights. Specifically, this project will give northern artists support, training, technologies, and audiences to develop local expertise and leadership in making 360 videos and virtual reality.
