Acadia develops new international markets
Several Acadian partners are devoting 2018 to setting up international exchange relationships, for example in Africa and Louisiana.
Paving the way for different markets
The group, which includes the New Brunswick Museum, the Les Hangars organization, the “Strategy for promoting Acadian artists on the international scene” (SPAASI) team and the Agence Wade (a Francophone artistic agency), is targeting several international markets, including Francophone Africa, now the largest Francophone region in the world and still relatively unexplored by Acadian artists. The presenters also have their sights on Louisiana, whose history has many similarities with that of Acadia, as well as traditional Francophone markets in Europe.
Meeting presenters off the beaten track
To solicit Francophone markets in Africa, and Creole and Cajun networks, the Acadian partners traveled to Masa in the Ivory Coast and the Visa for Music event in Morocco. They also networked at the Atlantic Music Expo & Kriol Jazz Festival in Cape Verde, and at the Festival international de Louisiane (an annual Francophone music and arts festival) in Louisiana.
