The Butterfly Effect of Translation
It all starts with a good book. Then a translator, writer or publisher is inspired to see it translated. Suddenly, thousands of readers discover another side of Canadian literature.
The Canada Council supports translation through its Arts Across Canada program, and its partnership initiatives. In doing so, the Council shares Canadian creativity with a greater public both at home and abroad.
A special program created to showcase Canada’s literature, culture and talent to the world.
To highlight Canada's selection as the 2020 Frankfurt Book Fair Guest of Honour Country, we have partnered with the Department of Canadian Heritage in supporting the celebration of Canadian talent abroad, through the creation of a new funding initiative.
This unique 3-year initiative will go towards supporting the translation of Canadian literary and non-literary books into German.
Guidelines will be shared in the coming months, before the program opens for applications in early 2018.
