disability justice

Disability Justice is a conceptual approach to addressing disability inequity which focuses on the ways different aspects of social and political discrimination overlap. This approach prioritizes the lives and leadership of disabled people who are racialized, or who identify as 2SLGBTQ and moves beyond simply demanding access to existing structures and systems. It incorporates decolonization, anti-racism and anti-oppression objectives in seeking equity and justice for all people with disabilities. Disability Justice also calls attention to the lack of racial diversity within the leadership of both the disability rights movement and the Deaf and disability arts sector.
