Prepared by the Research, Evaluation and Performance Measurement Section, in collaboration with the Media Arts Section, this report highlights CADAC (Canadian Arts Data / Données sur les arts au Canada) facts on a sampling of Production centres from across Canada. Using CADAC data, the report provides a picture of Canada Council funded media arts production centres, their activities and organizational stability. Media Arts Production Centres are organizations that support the creation of independent media artworks by media artists. These centres provide this support by providing affordable infrastructure (such as equipment, studio, edit suites, etc.), knowledgeable technicians, and a likeminded community which these artists may not otherwise have access to.
The data in the report centres on four themes: economic impact; Canadian artists reaching audiences; access to the arts; and public participation and support. Some of the key findings from the 2015 report on Media Arts Production centres are:
- These 45 media arts production centres saw an increase in earned revenues from $4M in 2009 to $5.7M in 2013, representing an increased share of these revenues from 21% to 30% of total revenues in the same period.
- In 2013, more than 2,780 film / video / media screenings were programmed and presented locally. In addition, 1,578 screenings were presented nationally and 57 internationally.
- In 2013, there were 50,700 participants at more than 2,000 Professional development and education activities. Further to this, there were 923 workshops for almost 9,000 participants.

CADAC is a web‐based system which has now been in place for five years and is beginning to provide a rich source of reliable data on almost 2,000 Canadian arts organizations. CADAC partners include provincial, territorial and municipal arts funders (https://www.thecadac.ca/).
