What is this prize?

The Jean A. Chalmers Fund for the Crafts assists non-profit visual arts and fine craft organizations and fine crafts professionals in undertaking projects that contribute to an understanding of the fine crafts in Canada via three program components:

  • research and policy development assistance (for organizations and individuals)
  • special project assistance (for organizations)
  • pre-publication assistance (for organizations)

Who created this prize?

This fund was established in 1985 with a contribution from the late Mrs. Chalmers, who left a $500,000 endowment to the Canada Council for the Arts.
