Frequently Asked Questions

Q&A on submitting applications in the Portal

Q1: When will the portal be open for submitting applications?

A1: The portal has been open for account creation and profile(s) validation since December 1, 2016 but it is not yet open for application submissions. You will be able to submit grant applications in the portal as of June 5, 2017.


Q2: Why did you postpone the date for submitting applications in the portal?

A2: Following the latest testing, we have detected errors that could compromise the online application process. This is a risk we do not wish to take. Find out more below about what we are doing to mitigate the impact of this delay for applicants.

Q3: What happens with April and May deadlines (i.e. before June 5)?

A3: All April and May deadlines have been deferred. Please refer to the following table for all the new deadlines per program component.


Q4: What happens if my project starts before I can submit my application to the component deadlines?

A4: For project and composite grant applications received before 1 August 2017, expenses incurred since 1 April 2017 will be eligible for funding.


Q5: What are the other measures you are taking to lessen the impact of this delay?

A5:

  1. Individuals, groups and organizations wanting to apply for tours and travel funding will be able to apply starting next week (week of May 1)*
  2. Applicants to our new composite grants in the components Concept to Realization and Public Outreach, as well as Short-Term Projects in Creating, Knowing and Sharing will also be able to apply starting next week (week of May 1)*
  3. Core grant component deadlines will be delayed, however you can still expect to get your results by December 2017.

* Applicants with validated profiles will be able to apply to these components via email (preferred), mail or courier until 30 June 2017. Details will be available with revised Guidelines next week (week of May 1). Later applications can be submitted through the portal.


Q6: How can I prepare my application for programs with deadlines after June 5?

A6:

  1. Create an account; determine the type of applicant record and profile(s) that apply to you.
  2. Submit everything for validation 30 days before applying.
  3. Use the forms under each program. Simply copy and paste your answers into the portal as of June 5.

Q7: Are the guidelines and budget forms that are currently available final?

A7: Yes. The current guidelines and forms are final. 


Q8: What is the difference between an account, an applicant record and an applicant profile?

A8:

  1. Your account is your identifier. You only have one account.
  2. In your account, you can identify your applicant type (Individual/Assessor, Organization, Group). You can have several applicant records within your account.
  3. Every applicant record has one or more applicant profiles (an applicant profile is a role or a specialization such as "Dance Artist" or "Theatre-specialized Festival or Presenter").
     

Q9: Why does the portal not work with Safari?

A9: The portal is only compatible with Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer.
